Traditional archetypes

Space rarely begins with an empty sheet. Centre, axis, boundary, threshold, direction, and circular movement recur among traditions separated by geography and time. They give a place coordinates before rooms and objects are assigned.

Specus collects these repetitions as a research hypothesis. The aim is to recognise durable spatial relations, then test them against real material, climate, engineering, law, and everyday use.

Modular systems

A module gains creative potential from a stable connection. Repeatable dimensions, fixed mounting points, and shared standards allow parts made at different times and by different people to work together.

Specus uses controlled modularity. The technical core remains responsible for strength, alignment, and reliability. The open layer gives the owner room to replace, configure, commission, or design compatible elements.

This principle is visible in SA-1 mounting points, the interchangeable parts of Art Object No. 01, and open Specus Gear interfaces.

Structure

Structure establishes the relation between what remains and what may change. It gives each variation a position, keeps versions comparable, and prevents an open system from dissolving into unrelated options.

In SA-1, structure is the case geometry and attachment interface. In the art object, it is the field, centre, and mounting pattern. In Village, it becomes the boundary, common centre, routes, functional zones, and operating rules.

A clear structure makes freedom reproducible: a decision can be understood, repeated, repaired, transferred to another scale, or continued by another person.
